October 15, 2024. The stay of the relics of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Kostanay diocese has ended.
From September 28 to November 10, 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', the boundaries of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District are visited by a great shrine - the relics and part of the robe of the blessed nun Matrona of Moscow, revered by millions of Orthodox believers around the world.
On October 12, the shrine was brought to the Constantine and Helen Cathedral, where Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, co-served by the diocesan clergy, celebrated the all-night vigil.
The next day, the Head of the Metropolitan District led the Liturgy in the main church of the Kostanay Diocese.
On October 14, on the feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of Our Lord and the Virgin Mary, the relics of the blessed nun Matrona of Moscow were delivered to the St. John the Theologian Cathedral in the city of Rudny.
The delivery of the revered shrine of Orthodoxy to the Kostanay Diocese became a spiritual gift to believers for the 25th anniversary of the Astana and Alma-Ata Diocese and the upcoming 15th anniversary of the approval of the canonical status of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.
In response to the petition of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, His Holiness gave his Primate's blessing for the bringing of the relics of the blessed Matrona to the diocesan centers for prayerful veneration and spiritual strengthening of the people of Kazakhstan. The shrine is accompanied on pilgrimage by Kazakhstani archpastors and clergy together with Metropolitan Alexander.
Support for bringing the shrine is provided by the public foundation "Apostol" (president - G.G. Sosnovsky).
More than 13 thousand people venerated the relics of the saint of Christ.
