The official desk calendar of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was published for 2023

The publishing house of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District has published the calendar of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan for 2023 - the official liturgical calendar as well as reference publication, traditionally combining the calendar by which Orthodox parishes in Kazakhstan will live and pray in the coming year, and reference sections.

The coming year is significant for the Russian Orthodox Church and the Kazakh Metropolitan District by a number of memorable dates and anniversaries, to which the calendar is dedicated. In 2023, Orthodox believers will prayerfully celebrate the 1675th anniversary of the repose of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifunt; 1650 years of the death of St. Athanasius the Great, Archbishop of Alexandria, 950 years of the death of St. Anthony of the Caves, of Kyiv, the head of all Russian monks, 120 years of the acquisition of the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, the miracle worker.

In the coming year, celebrations will be dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the celebration in honor of the Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Kazakhstan, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 115th anniversary of the formation of the Iberian-Serafimovsky Convent in the city of Alma-Ata .

In the calendar, in accordance with the tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church, for each day of the year there is a list of the names of saints, events in church history, revered images of the Most Holy Theotokos, the memory and celebration of which are performed by the Church on this day, indications are given for the fragments of the Holy Scripture read at the liturgy, in special cases - instructions on fasting and brief liturgical notes. Especially highlighted the days of remembrance of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Kazakhstan and the icons of the Mother of God revered in the Okrug.

The reference section contains information about the archpastors and dioceses of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan with detailed contact information and photographs of the episcopate; information about the higher theological educational institution of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan - the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary.

The edition, which opens with a portrait of Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, is well illustrated. High quality photographs highlight the events of church life in Kazakhstan and the ministry of the Head of the Metropolitan District in 2022. Among the most significant events are the consecration of Archimandrite Ignatius (Sidorenko) as Bishop of Aktobe and Kyzylorda, the consecration of Archimandrite Klavdian (Polyakov) as Bishop of Taldykorgan, vicar of the Astana diocese, the elevation of a number of archpastors of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District to the rank of archbishop, the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkestan diocese meeting of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Zh.-K. Tokaev, the celebration in Kazakhstan of the 600th anniversary of the acquisition of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the opening of an exhibition of ancient Russian art in the State Museum. A. The 3rd page of the cover is an icon of the Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Kazakhstan painted by the famous contemporary iconographer, laureate of the Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Prize - Honored Artist of Russia S.N. Sokolov.

On the 4th page of the cover there is a photo of the Cathedral in the name of the Holy Martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and Sophia of the Iversko-Serafimovsky convent in the city of Alma-Ata.
