The Head of the Metropolitan District met with the clergy of the Kokshetau Diocese

April 9, 2025. Kokshetau. In the building of the spiritual and educational center at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the diocesan meeting of the Kokshetau Diocese was held.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan introduced the heads and employees of the diocesan departments and commissions, the deans of the church districts, the clergy and representatives of the parish assets of the new administrator of the Kokshetau and Akmola Diocese - His Eminence Archbishop Varsonofy.

The meeting was attended by: Vicar of the Astana Diocese, Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; Rector of the Michael the Archangel Church in Shchuchinsk, Archimandrite Nikolai (Karpov); Cleric of the Church of the Archangel Michael in Kokshetau, Archpriest Vasily Kachankin; Sacristan of the Assumption Cathedral in Astana, Hieromonk Dimitry (Baidek); Secretary of the Diocesan Administration, Dean of the Resurrection Cathedral in Kokshetau, Priest Valery Anferov; Clergy of the churches of the Kokshetau Diocese.

Opening the meeting, Metropolitan Alexander gratefully recalled the works of the ever-memorable Archbishop Serapion, who worked in the church field in the Akmola region for more than 10 years.

During the meeting, current issues of church life at the diocesan and parish levels were discussed. The head of the Metropolitan District emphasized the need to intensify spiritual education among young people and expand the presence of the Orthodox Church in the Internet space. The participants of the meeting discussed the topics of social and charitable service, interaction with state authorities, revival and restoration of church shrines destroyed during the years of persecution.

A separate topic of the meeting was the preparation of the churches of the Kokshetau diocese for the celebration of Holy Easter.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Metropolitan District answered questions from the clergy.

The Metropolitan wished God's help to Archbishop Varsonofy and the clergy in caring for the God-saved flock of the Akmola region.
