Metropolitan Alexander got acquainted with the progress of the restoration of the Iversko-Petropavlovsky Convent in the village of Oktyabrskoye

April 3, 2025. Kostanay region. During his archpastoral visit to the Kostanay diocese, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the Iversko-Petropavlovsky Convent in the village of Oktyabrskoye, which is being restored.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was accompanied by the secretary of the Kostanay diocese, Hieromonk Gennady (Burduzha).

The Metropolitan was met by: Hieromonk Methodius (Chulkov), the inhabitants of the monastery, headed by Abbess Nika (Otroshchenko), Hierodeacon Feognost (Lendov), builders and landscapists of the monastery.

Upon arrival, the archpastor, together with the clergy, visited the Peter and Paul Church and performed a glorification at the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, after which he talked with the inhabitants of the monastery being restored. The building of the church in the name of the supreme apostles Peter and Paul was a dependency of the Iveron Convent in the city of Kustanai, which was destroyed in 1932. In 1992, the dependency building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. For many years, the church in the village of Oktyabrskoye was seized by schismatics, but in June 2023, the church building again became the property of the Kostanay Diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District.

After the service, His Eminence familiarized himself with the progress of the restoration of the monastery complex. Mother Abbess told the archpastor about the major repairs carried out in the house church of St. Peter and Paul - interior decoration, the process of restoring the iconostasis, replacing the roof in the church and the monastery building.

Then Metropolitan Alexander, accompanied by Abbess Nika, inspected the adjacent territory and the buildings of the monastery farm, after which he talked with the inhabitants of the monastery.

The head of the Metropolitan District highly praised the work done and blessed further work on the revival of the Iversko-Peter and Paul Convent.

The restoration work in the monastery is being carried out using funds from benefactors and voluntary donations from believers.
