June 26, 2024. Alma-Ata. At the end of the Divine Liturgy in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery, which was led by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a meeting took place of the new shrine of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District - an icon with particles of the relics of the venerable and blessed wives of Diveyevo.
While the troparion was sung to the venerable and blessed women of Diveyevo, the newly painted image was carried from the altar to the middle of the church, after which the prayer service began.
At the end of the service, Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky read out a letter transferring the icon to the monastery’s St. Sophia Cathedral for reverent storage and prayerful worship.
After this, Metropolitan Alexander congratulated those gathered on the significant event - the bringing to the southern capital of Kazakhstan of an icon with particles of the relics of the venerable and blessed women of Diveyevo.
The head of the Metropolitan District and the clergy overshadowed the four cardinal directions with the shrine, calling for the intercession of the saints of God against the city of Alma-Ata and the entire Kazakhstani land.
The icon with particles of the relics of the venerable and blessed women of Diveyevo was donated to the Alma-Ata diocese with the blessing of Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas in response to the petition of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan. The image was painted by the sisters of the Diveyevo monastery.
The storage location for the newly painted icon will be the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iversko-Seraphim Convent of the Southern Capital.
