The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the patronal feast of the main church of the Pavlodar diocese

April 7, 2024. Pavlodar. The Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the patronal celebration of the main church of the Pavlodar diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District - the Annunciation Cathedral.

The festive services in the Annunciation Cathedral were led by Archbishop of Pavlodar and Ekibastuz Varnava.

On April 6, on the eve of the Annunciation of the Mother of God, Archbishop Barnabas celebrated the all-night vigil and on April 7, on the very day of the holiday, which this year coincided with the third Sunday of Great Lent, he celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great.

The hierarch was co-served by: the dean of the Ekibastuz church district, Archpriest Igor Popov, the secretary of the diocesan administration of the Pavlodar diocese and the dean of the Pavlodar church district, Archpriest Alexy Stepanov, the cleric of the Iversko-Seraphim Cathedral of the city of Ekibastuz, Priest Anatoly Basalaev, the clergy of the Annunciation Cathedral, Priest Sergius Golubnichy, Priest Alexy Gmyza and Deacon Ambrose Taukenov.

Liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Annunciation Cathedral under the direction of Elena Yusupzhanova.

At the end of the Liturgy, a festive religious procession took place, after which glorification and a prayer service were performed at the icon of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as veneration of the Cross of the Lord.

Archbishop Varnava congratulated the clergy and believers on the Feast of the Annunciation and addressed those present with words of teaching.

After the completion of the service, in accordance with the ancient tradition of the Annunciation, the archpastor, clergy and parishioners released birds - white doves - on the porch of the cathedral.
